Some period later, Carl still lives in the house when he accidentally injures a construction worker over damage to his mailbox, and a court orders him to go to a retirement home. Even so, Carl comes up with a scheme to hold his promise to Ellie: he turns his house right makeshift airship, using thousands regarding helium balloons. Russell, a young Wilderness Explorer will become an accidental passenger in the effort to earn his closing merit badge for assisting the ageing.
After surviving a thunderstorm, your home lands near a ravine facing Paradise Falls. Carl and Russell harness themselves towards the still-buoyant house and begin to walk it throughout the ravine, hoping to reach the falls ahead of the balloons deflate. They later befriend any tall, colorful flightless bird (whom Russell names "Kevin") attempting to reach her chicks, and your pet dog named Dug, who wears a special collar that allows him to help speak.
