The film opens which has a scene of Sebastian Valmont in the therapist's office. He claims in order to his therapist, Dr. Greenbaum (Swoosie Kurtz), that she has helped him to resolve his issues with sex and that he won't be a womanizer. As he or she leaves, Dr. Greenbaum receives the call from her daughter (Tara Reid), that is hysterical. The girl's boyfriend dumped her, and she soon found that he had posted a naked picture of her (with captions talking about her mother's recent bestseller in child-rearing) online. Greenbaum realizes that Sebastian is the culprit. She screams at your ex from her office window, but he feigns oblviousness--using a person's eye Greenbaum drew to chat with an attractive young woman.

The next scene occurs inside the sitting room of a very upscale Ny mansion. The wealthy and common Kathryn Merteuil (Gellar) is speaking about her prep school with Mrs. Caldwell (Christine Baranski) and also Caldwell's daughter Cecile (Selma Blair). Kathryn claims Mrs. Caldwell that she is going to take the sheltered and naive Cecile Caldwell under her wing, assuring the mother that Kathryn's guidance will turn Cecile into a model student. Sebastian enters and also Mrs. Caldwell reacts to your ex coldly. He makes a sexual innuendo to Cecile, who is usually ignorant of his meaning.
