Years ago, a single drop of sun light falls to Earth and becomes a golden flower loaded with incredibly strong healing properties. An old enchantress named Mommy Gothel discovers the flower in addition to hoards its healing ability by using a song to keep her young for years and years. Centuries later, the pregnant Queen of any nearby kingdom falls deathly sick and tired, leading the King to seek out the legendary mystical plant. Despite Gothel's efforts to cover it, the flower is located, uprooted, and boiled into medicine for the queen, which heals her. The Queen gives birth to some girl, Princess Rapunzel, who provides beautiful golden hair that offers magical healing properties. Gothel, planning to reclaim her immortality and junior, breaks into the royal baby room to cut a lock of Rapunzel's hair, only to discover that doing so causes it to get rid of its magic. She kidnaps the actual Princess instead, raising her as her own in an isolated tower. The King and Queen respect their missing daughter by releasing floating lanterns on the night of her birthday each year in hopes that one morning, their Lost Princess will come back.
