As being a cub, Alex the Lion seemed to be called Alakay and was the son of Zuba, the alpha lion. Though Zuba tries to teach Alakay to become a hunter, the cub is keen on dancing, and is captured by poachers when Makunga, Zuba's compete with, challenges Zuba to a fight to the position of alpha lion. Alakay is forced in to a crate, and taken away even with Zuba's attempts to rescue your ex. The crate falls into your ocean where it drifts to The big apple. There, Alakay is renamed Alex and deliver to the Central Park Zoo where he spent my youth, meeting Marty the Zebra, Melman your Giraffe, and Gloria the Hippopotamus. The majority of the events of the first movie are then described through a series of news flashes.

In the found time, Alex the Lion, Marty your Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria your Hippopotamus, the Penguins Skipper, Kowalski, Exclusive, and Rico, the Chimpanzees Builder and Phil, and even your Lemurs King Julien, Maurice, and Mort board a repaired airplane to fly here we are at New York. The plane will take off, but crash-lands in continental Photography equipment. In Africa the animals are amazed to uncover more of their kind. Alex is usually reunited with Zuba and their mother. Marty fits in which has a herd of zebra who all look and sound just like him. Hypochondriac Melman becomes the witch doctor. Gloria attracts a persons vision of a smooth-talking hippo called Moto Moto.
