Frank Moses (Bruce Willis), a past black-ops CIA agent, is retired and living a quiet life in a very Cleveland suburb. However, Frank f...
His life is disrupted every time a six-person hit squad raids his house down the middle of the night. Frank handily kills the full squad. Knowing they have tapped his phone, he goes to Kansas City to defend Sarah. She refuses to get, so he binds and gags the woman's with duct tape and the girl becomes Frank's reluctant companion, while he tries to determine who is trying to kill him, and track down his or her old associates for help. On the other hand, CIA agent William Cooper (Karl Urban) will be assigned to hunt and kill Frank.
Frank first goes to Brand new Orleans and after leaving Sarah bound and gagged of their hotel room, he meets together with his terminally ill mentor Joe Matheson (Morgan Freeman), living in a retirement community. Joe tells Frank how the same hit squad was also liable for the murder of a reporter for that New York Times. Sarah manages to escape but is rescued by Frank when another agent, posing like a police officer, tries to medicine her. Cooper attacks them but Frank tricks the authorities, so that the police criminal arrest Cooper, which gives them time for it to escape. The two head to Ny and find clues left behind through the deceased reporter, which leads them to a hit list. They then find Marvin Boggs (John Malkovich), also a former black ops agent along with a paranoid conspiracy theorist, to provide much more information.
