Pretty Woman can be a 1990 American romantic comedy film placed in Los Angeles. Written by J. F. Lawton and directed through Garry Marshall, the film megastars Richard Gere and Julia Roberts, and also features Hector Elizondo, Ralph Bellamy (in their final performance), and Jason Alexander within supporting roles. The story of Pretty Woman centers about the down-on-her-luck Hollywood prostitute Vivian Ward that is hired by a wealthy business person, Edward Lewis, to be his escort for many business and social functions, and their developing relationship over the course of Vivian's week-long stay with your ex.

Originally intended to be some sort of dark cautionary tale about class and prostitution in Los Angeles, this motion picture was reconceived as romantic comedy having a large budget. It was widely successful at the box office, and it became on the list of highest money-makers of 1990.
