From the Pride Lands of Africa, a lion king rules over the other animals, who celebrate this birth of future king Simba, child of King Mufasa (James Earl Jones) in addition to Queen Sarabi (Madge Sinclair) on Pride Rock. Mufasa's younger buddy, Scar (Jeremy Irons), is envious and resentful of Simba, who replaces Scar as heir towards throne. A few months later on, as Simba (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) grows in to a curious lion cub, Mufasa gives him a tour with the Pride Lands, teaching him the responsibilities to be a king and the circle of life. Later that day, Scar tricks Simba into checking out an elephant graveyard, forbidden by means of Mufasa, with his best pal, female lion cub Nala (Niketa Calame), in spite of the protests of Mufasa's hornbill majordomo Zazu (Rowan Atkinson). At the graveyard, the cubs are bombarded by three spotted hyenas, Shenzi, Banzai in addition to Ed (Whoopi Goldberg, Cheech Marin in addition to Jim Cummings) before Mufasa, having been alerted towards scene by Zazu, rescues all of them and willingly forgives Simba intended for his actions. Later that evening, the hyenas, who are allied having Scar, plot with him to kill Mufasa and Simba, who will be both unaware of their purposes.
The next day Scar lures Simba into a gorge and tells him to have to wait there while he gets Mufasa. In Scar's orders, the hyenas stampede a sizable herd of wildebeest into this gorge where Simba is. Mufasa rescues Simba, but as Mufasa tries to climb in the gorge's walls, Scar throws him on the stampede, killing him. After Simba finds Mufasa's body in the gorge, Scar tricks him into thinking that Mufasa's death is his fault and advises him to run away forever. As Simba leaves, Keloid orders the hyenas to get rid of Simba, but the cub goes out. Scar then announces to this pride that both Mufasa and Simba were killed in the stampede and steps forward since the new king, allowing a swarm of hyenas to call home in the Pride Lands.
